I’m an expat living in the highlands of Guanacaste, Costa Rica, near the shores of Lake Arenal. The area, which is rich in natural splendor, has given me a good deal of creative inspiration and awe.
This particular region provides endless photo opportunities and a tranquil atmosphere that is known by locals as Pura Vida.
I started my career in marketing in the late 1980s with an insurance marketing agency in St. Petersburg, Florida. My job was to recruit independent insurance agents for a handful of life and health companies and train them to market and promote the products. Although it was a great beginning for me, I longed to get my hands into something more creative. So, I began to teach myself design.
By the early 1990s, I was a full-time graphic designer and copy writer, working in technology-driven industries such as telecom and IC. I built my first website in 1994 and have continued to develop and grow through self-education and keeping a keen eye on trends. If I pride myself on anything, it’s the ability to learn and conquer new ideas, techniques and strategies.
Should you be curious as to why I chose this place as my home, here’s a video of the area.
My son and his partner came for a visit and we spent a good deal of time enjoying the natural playground that is the Canton of Tilaran.
